The Project
TurningArt recently completed a fresh and progressive art program for a world-renowned children’s hospital in Boston, providing over 700 pieces of artwork spanning prints, originals, and custom commissions across all media. The result is an artwork collection that complements the impressive state-of-the-art facility and helps the hospital deliver the best care possible by engaging all who step foot in the new building.
From Alyce, the Art Advisor
“It was essential that TurningArt uphold the hospital’s sense of community by building a collection for every employee, patient, and family member, so internal feedback was vital. We worked with an art committee composed of senior leadership and the building's architecture and design teams, as well as 5 user groups with staff members from each unit of the hospital. We also used our online art voting tools to collect feedback from patients and families. My goal as an art advisor is to visually manifest the ethos of my client. When your client is the world's #1 children's hospital, the work is guided by kindness, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to excellence, all in the name of helping children and their families. It was a huge undertaking and I am incredibly proud of the final result. I can't think of a better group of people to work with or a better mission to serve.”
From Elisabeth Gordon, Art Program Manager
“When we initially came across TurningArt I was impressed with their fresh curatorial vision supported by an extensive catalog of national and international artists. This was very important to us as we required a large amount of artwork and wanted to feature artists from all over the world. One main hallmark of this collection is its universal appeal. This hospital serves a wide demographic of patients seeking the best possible care, and some return regularly throughout adulthood. With Alyce’s curatorial expertise, we landed on a collection that makes everyone feel welcome. Aesthetics are child and adult-friendly, and, no matter where you are from, the subjects are familiar and successfully provide positive distraction, a core tenant of any children’s hospital. People also really love learning more about the art through the labels and QR codes TurningArt provided for each artwork. I am truly delighted with this collection and the impact it will have on everyone who interacts with it for years to come.”
