The Project
The recently renovated, 23 story office tower 200 West Monroe is situated in Chicago’s buzzing West Loop. TurningArt began working with the property management team and ownership to create a rotating artwork program tailored for the building’s refreshed and expansive lobby. The upgraded space includes new furnishings and fixtures designed to fit a modern and sophisticated aesthetic, and attract the area’s emerging tenant class.
From Mari, the Art Advisor
"For the first artwork install, we collaborated with the architect and management to really set the tone of the new space. To engage the area’s energized, tech-savvy tenants, we opted for bold, playful pop artworks with colors that complemented the massive red accent inlets on each side of the lobby, as well as the minimal design of the space.
When the first rotation came around, the team was eager to use the opportunity to play around with a new tone and style. This time we selected a series of sophisticated, urban, and architecturally inspired drawings.
Though the works are quite visually different from the pop works, they are equally layered, conceptual, and engaging. A highlight of rotating such large-scale pieces is that the tenants really take notice of the atmosphere that the art brings. The feedback on the new works has been fantastic!"
From Lee, The Property Manager
"The annual artwork rotations from TurningArt are a standout element in this space and contributes towards maintaining an energetic, creative atmosphere that vitalizes the lobby and makes a strong first impression.
For artwork selections, Mari’s piece recommendations were a refreshing replacement for our last installation and completely deliver the building style objectives that continue to resonate with the building’s tenant community."
